Announcing our partnership with QEII School

We are pleased to have formed a partnership with the Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee School in Horsham.

They provide an exceptional education for young people with severe or profound and multiple learning difficulties, or complex needs. Their vision is to enable every pupil to discover and develop their potential and have a real pride in their achievements. Through a creative, flexible and relevant curriculum and a wide range of opportunities, pupils develop independence, confidence and self-esteem. Every pupil is supported to go on to live a fulfilled life as a respected member of their community.

We have worked with them to provide ten new laptops, that are already helping to support the work of staff and students.

These laptops will enable students and staff to access the resources they need for their learning. The existing devices had reached the limit of usability due to their age and needed to be replaced. As learners with special educational needs, students rely heavily on the use of communication software and also need to be able to access videos and online content to support their learning. Using laptops means the learning equipment can be brought to them wherever in school they learn best, and those who are physically unable to record their work using pens or pencils are often able to do so using a computer keyboard, or a computer with a suitable adaptive device to meet their needs.

Caroline Paul, Head of Fundraising QEII School, said:

This donation makes a significant step in moving forward our program to replace all our oldest devices before they become unusable, so the learning of all our students can continue uninterrupted. As a rapidly growing school, the need for more equipment has never been more pressing and the support of the Kenora Charitable Foundation has really helped us to be able to keep pace.
