Announcing our partnership with Children’s Sailing Trust

Earlier this year we entered into an exciting new partnership with the Children’s Sailing Trust in Cornwall, through our funding they are able to have new boats and provide sailing opportunities to more young people.

Children’s Sailing Trust aims to make sailing and waterspouts accessible to all, inspiring young people to build resilience, problem solve, have confidence in themselves and their abilities, and help them build skills for life so they can set sail for a better future.

In 1997, charity founder John green MBE, decided he wanted to ensure all local children had the same opportunities he had growing up sailing on the Helford River. In 2016 they expanded to provide a centre of excellence that made waterspouts available to people with disabilities, with the new HQ at Trevassack lake opening late 2021. The facilities at Trevassack are open to the public, with non-profit trading subsidiaries, award-winning holiday accommodation and a lakeside cafe, which help support a sustainable future for Children’s Sailing Trust.

We are pleased to be able to work with an organisation that has enabled 426 primary-aged children to sail as part of charitable sailing programmes with 130 of those being fully subsidised. Utilised 442 volunteer hours on the water to deliver incredible sessions including specific programmes enabling children and young people with SEND to access the water. Over the course of three years, a child can experience up to 120 hours of tuition, with many achieving RYA Stages 3 and 4. In 2024, they employed nine young people who first discovered sailing with Children’s Sailing Trust as children – a testament to the enduring impact of early experiences on the water.

It brings us tremendous joy to form this partnership and help children and young people build confidence, resilience and competence in sailing together.
