Overview

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude for your continued support and generous donation of £20,000 to the Lake District Calvert Trust.

Your support has been instrumental in sustaining our Enabling Adventure Fund, allowing us to provide life-changing, accessible outdoor experiences for disabled individuals and families.

Thanks to your commitment, we were able to offer these essential health and wellbeing benefits to our participants, ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent anyone from accessing our tailored outdoor programmes.

The role of the fund

Our Enabling Adventure Fund remains a cornerstone of the Lake District Calvert Trust’s mission to deliver inclusive and accessible outdoor holidays.

These experiences are vital, particularly for individuals and groups facing significant personal and financial challenges. As financial pressures on families continue to mount amidst rising living costs, the demand for support from our Enabling Adventure Fund has increased. This funding is the key to opening doors for many who, despite heavily subsidised programme fees, would still be unable to afford a visit.

Through your support, we were able to extend our services to 128 participants from the South of England. Your contribution ensured that these participants had the opportunity to visit our centre, where they benefited from much-needed respite in a secure and supportive environment. Without this funding, these life-enhancing visits would have been unattainable for many of them.

How the funds were utilised

Your donation was directly applied to our Enabling Adventure Fund, subsidising the costs of accommodation, meals, and a wide range of specialist activities for schools, families, and charitable organizations. At Calvert Lakes, participants were able to engage in numerous outdoor and adventure activities designed to cater to varying abilities, including:

  • Horse riding and countryside walks
  • Canoeing and sailing on the lake
  • Ghyll scrambling
  • Zip lining and climbing wall activities
  • Hydrotherapy sessions in our accessible pool

In addition, our participants were able to experience some of our newer offerings, such as high ropes courses, bushcraft activities, and cycling.

These experiences, all adapted to meet the needs of our participants, provided not only physical and mental health benefits but also opportunities for personal growth, social connection, and emotional healing.
